Edit Document Matches

Learn how to manually drag and match files from the Files sidebar to specific rows in your workpapers.

Manual file matching in workpapers

[!NOTE] Manual matching is available to auditors on workpapers that already have document matching enabled. Client contributors can upload files, but only auditors can pair them with specific rows.

Overview

Manual matching lets you drag files from the Files sidebar onto the right row in the workpaper grid. Use it when an automation leaves something unmatched or when you want to override the suggested evidence.

Before you begin

  1. Confirm the file already sits inside the document group linked to your sample.
  2. Check that the file has finished processing—the badge in the sidebar should show Ready.
  3. Open the grid to the row you want to support, expanding any child rows if needed.

Drag from the Files sidebar

  1. Hover over the file and start dragging it out of the sidebar.
  2. Move your cursor over the workpaper grid. Eligible rows highlight to show where the file can land.
  3. Drop the file on the correct row. Agentive attaches the document to that record.

Confirm the destination

  • Dropping on a child row – The file links to the same parent record as that row.
  • Dropping on a parent row – If multiple child datasets are available, Agentive prompts you to pick the right one.
  • Single-path parents – When there’s only one destination, the file attaches automatically.

After the drop

  • The workpaper refreshes and shows the file as matched.
  • Any related automations (matching, prompts, or formulas) re-run for that record.
  • The file tile updates its match count so you can see how many rows it supports.

Tips and troubleshooting

  • If nothing happens, make sure you dragged from the correct document group.
  • Use Remove match or Clear all matches from the grid or sidebar if you need to start over.
  • Adjust page ranges after the drop when only part of the document applies.
  • Replace each placeholder image path with real screenshots before publishing.
